Chelsea have been told that they can free up a potential £110m in cash as they look to sign Erling Haaland this summer. The Norway international is top of Thomas Tuchel’s transfer wish list.
Former Chelsea star Glen Johnson has revealed a way that his old club can boost their transfer funds in their battle to land Haaland.
The Blues are operating largely in the shadows this transfer window but there is one top target in their sights – Haaland.
The west London side are not the only ones, with most of Europe’s biggest clubs chasing the Borussia Dortmund star.
After an incredible 41 goals in 41 appearances, Thomas Tuchel has become obsessed with bringing the forward to Stamford Bridge but has been put off by the £150m-plus price-tag.
But signing him has proved borderline impossible with Dortmund insisting he is not for sale – but if a huge offer comes in they might be tempted.
In order to do so, Chelsea will need to sell players to raise their funds and two could be out the door of high value.
And former Stamford Bridge ace Johnson reckons Tammy Abraham and Callum Hudson-Odoi look set to depart – with both linked with moves away.
Johnson told BettingOdds.com: “I think if they get the right offer for Callum Hudson-Odoi or Tammy Abraham this summer then they will sell them. Definitely.
“Regarding Callum, it’s just not clicking for him is it? He’s in and out the side and I don’t think the manager thinks that he can rely on him.
“He’s sensational when he wants to be but you can’t survive in the Premier League by performing when you want to. You need to perform week in, week out. I don’t think he has the type of mentality that you need to work under Thomas Tuchel.
“I think he will go on to have a fantastic career but he needs to find the right club to flourish.”
Abraham has been strongly linked with a move away this summer with Arsenal a potential suitor while West Ham and Leicester have also been interested in the England international.
Bayern Munich have long held Hudson-Odoi as a target and tried desperately to sign him last summer and in January as well.
Both could land Chelsea a cool £100m with the duo valued at £50m each.
Meanwhile, the Blues are continuing their work to sign highly-rated defender Jules Kounde from Sevilla.
The Frenchman has emerged as a top target as Tuchel looks to bolster his backline with Thiago Silva and Cesar Azpilicueta ageing.
