Chelsea suffer Haaland transfer blow, Varane chances rise and Bakayoko may go

After winning the Champions League, Thomas Tuchel’s Chelsea are looking to get even better and challenge for domestic glory.

The Stamford Bridge club were competitive against the top sides last season and they have an elite coach in Tuchel, giving them the belief they can challenge on all fronts next season.

They spent over £230m last summer on players like Timo Werner, Kai Havertz and Ben Chilwell and could open their chequebooks again this year to build on that.

The Blues are keen on brining another forward, while Achraf Hakimi’s name continues to be strongly linked.

Daily Star Sport has taken a look at Chelsea’s latest transfer news below.

Haaland transfer blow

Spanish outlet Marca say Real Madrid have made either Erling Haaland or Kylian Mbappe their priority and are willing to chunk up to £112m for him, giving Chelsea a challenge in their bid to sign the Norwegian.

The Madrid club are open to selling Luka Jovic, Gareth Bale and Raphael Varane in order to fund the move and that could give them the necessary funds.

Haaland has been of interest to Chelsea for a while as they hope to boost their attacking options.

Bakayoko exit possible

Forgotten Chelsea midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko could finally leave Stamford Bridge in a permanent move this summer having spent the last season on loan at Napoli.

His agent, Andy Bara, spoke about a potential move, possibly to AC Milan, where he also previously spent time on loan.

“It is possible, Milan are looking for a player with his characteristics and it is likely that they can make a proposal.

“At the moment Tiemoue is a Chelsea player, but there is a possibility to change his shirt and go to an Italian team.”

Raphael Varane chances

According to reports, new Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti is keen to bring in Leicester City’s Wesley Fofana and that could open the door for Raphael Varane to leave.

Several clubs, including Manchester United, Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain are interested in the French defender and will be encouraged by the news.

Varane is out of contract next summer and Real Madrid will want to recoup a fee on the player if he is to leave.
