Chelsea stars blasted by Roy Keane for copying Man Utd counterparts

Roy Keane said he was worried about the mentality of several ‘disgraceful’ Chelsea stars ahead of their Premier League opener against Liverpool. The pundit echoed his criticism of Manchester United’s players, who he blamed for the sackings of several managers at Old Trafford.

New boss Mauricio Pochettino has overseen a major overhaul of the club after replacing interim head coach Frank Lampard. Lampard and his predecessor Graham Potter had failed to get the best out of the Chelsea squad, leading to a dismal 11th-placed finish last season.

But Keane feels some individuals ‘disgraced’ themselves with their performances last term. The former Man Utd captain ominously insisted he was ‘worried’ about the mentality of several players.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Keane said: “They’ve obviously made the decision to let go of a lot of players, there’s been a lot of changes in Chelsea over the last 12 months, it’s quite crazy from the outside looking in. They’ve got the manager sorted out, but I’m worried about their mentality.

“You heard all the managers last year, even Frank Lampard say that there wasn’t any motivation, no heart in the team, they didn’t want to play which I think is disgraceful if you consider yourself a top professional.

“But the point of the summer was to bring in a manager to get them organised and they’ve done that. They need a settled group and a hungry group.”
