Chelsea star is so popular opposition players fight each other to get his shirt

Chelsea star Enzo Fernandez is so popular that opposition players fought amongst themselves to get his shirt.

Fernandez played 60 minutes of Argentina's 2-0 friendly victory over Panama on Thursday night before he was swarmed by opposition players at the end of the match. Footage from Buenos Aires shows several members of the Panama team crowding around the Chelsea midfielder after shaking hands as they look to get hold of his shirt.

He can even be seen awkwardly smiling as he looks at the arguing Panama players, who then played rock, paper, scissors to settle their dispute.

The Panama team continued to be star-struck as they embraced with the Argentina players after the match, with defender Ivan Anderson asking Lionel Messi to sign his shirt.

Messi had scored during the match, following an opener from Thiago Almada, as the world champions waltzed to a friendly victory in their first match since winning the World Cup for the third time.

A crowd of more than 80,000 supporters welcomed the squad back home at the Estadio Monumental in Buenos Aires, with the players awarded with replicas of the World Cup trophy before Messi lifted the real thing in front of an adoring crowd.

Fernandez has stormed to stardom in the last year, with his stock rising considerably thanks to his performances in Qatar as he appeared in all seven of Argentina's matches on their way to glory.

Having scored off the bench in the win over Mexico, he went on to start his side's remaining matches and played every minute during the knockout stages.

His performances at the tournament helped earn him a British record transfer to Chelsea in January as he headed to Stamford Bridge from Benfica for a fee in the region of £106million.

He has since made nine appearances for the Blues, providing two assists from midfield. Fans have also spotted that he has been wearing a World Cup-inspired pendant round his neck before matches since becoming a world champion last year.
