Chelsea star Fernandez costs just £5m on FPL – less than ex-Blues flop Willian

Chelsea star Enzo Fernandez will cost players just £5million on Fantasy Premier League and is valued at less than ex-Blues man Willian.

The Argentine midfielder completed a Deadline Day move to Stamford Bridge as he joined Chelsea from Benfica for a British record transfer fee. It is understood that Chelsea have agreed to pay his £105million release clause across several instalments after tying Fernandez down to an eight-and-a-half year contract.

Following his arrival in England, Fernandez will be available to managers on FPL, with his price on the app revealed on Tuesday after his transfer was confirmed by Chelsea.

The 22-year-old can be bought for just £5million ahead of Friday's 6:30pm deadline, with transfers having to be completed by that time before Chelsea host Fulham later the same night.

That match could see Fernandez make his debut for Graham Potter's side after becoming the club's eighth and final signing of the January transfer window.

Fans have been left shocked at his low price on FPL, with one tweeting: “Enzo Fernandez at £5m can be an FPL bargain.” Another added: “Massive bargain, definitely getting him in my team.”

A third player also wrote: “How did we sign him for €120m just to be £5m in FPL.” Meanwhile, another joked: “Closer to his true value.”

Fernandez comes in at less than former Chelsea winger Willian, with the Fulham star valued slightly higher at £5.5million. Willian has impressed for the Cottagers this season after a string of poor seasons since leaving Chelsea.

The Brazilian had made more than 300 appearances in seven years with the Blues, winning two league titles and was twice named the club's player of the year.

However, he struggled at Arsenal and Corinthians after departing in 2020 before joining the Cottagers last summer. He has since provided five goal contributions in 15 appearances this term, including a goal in the reverse fixture against his old club last month.
