Chelsea are reportedly willing to offer Borussia Dortmund up to £150m for striking sensation Erling Haaland.

That figure would smash the British transfer record and would likely be accepted by the Bundesliga outfit.

The Blues parted ways with £120m for German duo Timo Werner and Kai Havertz this time last year, but the pair have both endured difficult spells during their first season at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea are also likely to let not one but two members of their strike force leave in the summer, as Tammy Abraham has been deemed surplus to requirements while Olivier Giroud could also be nearing the end of his time in West London.

Giroud’s contract was only recently extended until the summer of 2022, but this appears to be more of an attempt to gain some cash for the Frenchman and preventing him from leaving on a free, rather than actually see his future at the club for another year.

According to a report from 90min, Chelsea’s interest in Haaland dates as far back as December of last year and has been a priority target for some time.

A striker of any kind is thought to be the most important addition in the eyes of owner Roman Abramovich.

The Russian is reportedly keen on luring former Blues forward Romelu Lukaku back to the Bridge, with the Belgian currently plying his trade for Serie A champions Inter Milan.

The Italian outfit are in a particularly dire financial situation, though the sale of Achraf Hakimi is likely to have eased their economic burden, ensuring they aren’t forced to sell Lukaku.

This has inevitably put Haaland back into the forefront of the minds of the Chelsea hierarchy, who are thought to be quietly confident that a deal can be done for the 20-year-old.

Chelsea are pushing to get the move completed this summer, despite knowing should they wait a year, Haaland’s release clause of £64m becomes active.

This will undoubtedly spark a transfer frenzy the likes of which European football has never seen, so Tuchel and co. may deem it worth their while to secure Haaland’s signature now.

The same report from 90min claims that the Blues have already held talks with ‘super-agent’ Mino Raiola, who counts Haaland as another of his star-studded list of clients.

Though Chelsea have made attempts to drive the figure down to £135m, they are ultimately not opposed to stumping up £150m if that is what it will take.

That is the absolute most the Blues would be willing to pay for the forward, given he would be avaible for nearly half that figure next year.

Last season, Haaland won the Bundesliga player of the year award in controversial fashion, as many believed Bayern Munich star Robert Lewandowski was more deserving of the title.

Though Haaland notched 27 goals and eight assists, Lewandowski bagged a record-breaking 41 goals and seven assists in league competition alone.
