Reports coming out of Spain suggest that Chelsea chief Marina Granovskaia will be offered the chance to complete a perfect summer transfer window – but it will come at the cost of losing Timo Werner.
Werner struggled in front of goal last term after joining the Blues from RB Leipzig.
And one fan called for the German forward to leave the club over the Stamford Bridge tannoy during an open training session last week.
Granovskaia has splashed the cash to bring Romelu Lukaku back to Chelsea for £97million from Inter Milan.
Werner will have to play second fiddle this season and Spanish outlet Ok Diario claims he will not be happy with sitting on the bench.
The 25-year-old will apparently be offered a way out of west London to give him a regular run of games.
OK Diario report that Atletico Madrid are preparing a swap offer for Werner and they are willing to give up Chelsea target Saul Niguez.
Atletico were hoping to recapture Antoine Griezmann but Lionel Messi’s departure from Barcelona means they are no longer under pressure to sell.
The La Liga side will apparently turn their attention to Werner and Diego Simeone has already given the deal the green light.
However, a caveat is raised in that Chelsea would have to bring in another striker because they have already lost Olivier Giroud and Tammy Abraham this summer.
Saul is said to be on similar wages to Werner so Atletico have no concerns of disrupting their budget.
The Telegraph has previously reported that Atletico offered Saul to Manchester United and Liverpool as they are trying to cash in on the 26-year-old.
It is unclear where Saul would fit into Thomas Tuchel’s team, especially given Jorginho and N’Golo Kante’s form.
The Blues have a plethora of other midfielders on the books who they are trying to offload such as Ross Barkley, Danny Drinkwater and Ruben Loftus-Cheek.
If Chelsea are to make another signing this summer then it is expected to be a centre-back.
Sevilla defender Jules Kounde is being closely monitored by Granovskaia’s scouts and an approach could be made before deadline day.
