Chelsea and Liverpool are reportedly weighing up the idea of following in the footsteps of Aston Villa by raiding Dundee United for one of their best young players in the not-too-distant future. Chelsea have previously looked to Scotland in their efforts to supplement their youth ranks, with a teenage Billy Gilmour joining the Blues from Rangers for a seven-figure fee back in 2017.
Liverpool have also used the Scottish market to their advantage in recent years, with Calvin Ramsay and Ben Doak moving to Anfield from Aberdeen and Celtic respectively over the summer. It seems as though the Reds and Chelsea could soon be set to battle it out for another talented youngster from north of the border, with Dundee United starlet Alan Domeracki among those in their sights, according to the Daily Record.
It is claimed that Domeracki has been turning plenty of heads with his form at youth level for United, who sold Kerr Smith to Aston Villa for over £800,000 back in January. The Tannadice club have plans to emphasise the development of their young players under the watchful eye of American owner Mark Ogren, with Domeracki potentially set to become their latest export if Chelsea or Liverpool come calling before the start of next season.
The report adds that Domeracki has already visited both clubs as he weighs up his options in the market in advance of the January transfer window. He only signed professional terms with his current employers over the summer after progressing through the Scottish FA’s performance school programme at St John’s in Dundee.

Domeracki, who was born in 2006, has been on United’s books since catching their eye as a nine-year-old and has been tipped to enjoy a bright future in the game after impressing at youth level over the years. He is described by the club’s official website as a ‘creative, intelligent, technically strong left-sided central midfielder’ and spent the majority of last season as part of their under-18 squad.
“After seven years of hard work, it’s finally paid off,” said Domeracki after putting pen to paper alongside four of his academy team-mates back in June.
“I’m delighted to sign my first professional contract with Dundee United. I’ve been a part of the club since the age of nine and I’ve enjoyed every experience I had in them in that time.
“I would like to thank every coach I had at Dundee United, the Performance School and DUSC. It’s been a pleasure working with all of them.”
It remains to be seen whether Domeracki will eventually be snapped up by either Chelsea or Liverpool in the near future, with both clubs said to be preparing to battle it out for his signature between now and the start of next season. He will be hoping to follow in the footsteps of Gilmour by making a name for himself in the Premier League if he ends up moving to England, while Dundee United will be looking to avoid selling him for anything less than a premium fee if he is targeted in January or when next summer rolls around.
