Chelsea ‘joined’ in Chiesa race, to hijack Grealish move, Tuchel talks exits

Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel could utilise a new-look playing squad at Stamford Bridge next season following their Champions League triumph back in May.

The German, who was brought in to replace club icon Frank Lampard, took his young side all the way to European glory, and has since been rewarded with a long-term contract.

In addition, director Marina Granovskaia looks set to spend this summer with the permission of owner Roman Abramovich, who will be looking to add another Premier League title to their trophy cabinet.

Daily Star Sport have now taken a look at three of the latest updates regarding transfer news in west London, with Tuchel hinting that departures could following additions.

Chelsea 'joined' in Chiesa race

According to La Repubblica, Chelsea have been joined in the race to sign Italy star Federico Chiesa by Premier League rivals Liverpool this summer.

The 23-year-old proved to be one of the star players at Euro 2020 as Roberto Mancini's side lifted the trophy, scoring against both Austria and Spain.

Having joined Juventus from Fiorentina on a two-year loan back in 2020, the deal could prove to be a tricky one with his value higher than ever.

Blues 'to hijack' Jack Grealish move

As reported earlier this week, TuttoMercatoWeb say that Chelsea are ready to hijack the summer transfer plans of Manchester City by trying to sign Jack Grealish.

The England forward has been linked with a move away from boyhood side Aston Villa despite his love for club, and could eye a Champions League debut.

That move could be boosted by his relationship with Mason Mount, Reece James and Ben Chilwell with England, but Villa are said to value their captain at £100m.

Tuchel hints at imminent exits

Tuchel is prepared for many of Chelsea's returning loan players to leave again this window.

He told Chelseafc.com, when talking about returning loan players, that "I have never had that before.

"That was new, I was not scared about it, but I was curious to see how the mentality is because don't forget, some of them leave their families behind, some of them want to stay in their loan clubs, some of them have not that possibility.

"Some of them have done two or three pre-seasons here already. Some of them want to look absolutely for the chance to stay, some of them want to maybe leave."
