Chelsea hoping Haaland transfer talks can help them win Bellingham race too
Chelsea are hoping their interest in Erling Haaland can help them in their bid of signing Borussia Dortmund team-mate Jude Bellingham.
The Champions League winners are interested in strengthening their squad with the addition of both youngsters who have impressed in Germany since they have been there.
Their interest in Haaland has been widely reported this summer as they wish to bolster their attacking ranks, with others such as Manchester City and Manchester United apparently interested as well.
It’s unlikely the Bundesliga side will sell Haaland this summer unless there is an exceptional offer for the Norwegian – it will have to be upward of £100m.
If they wait until next year, however, the fee could be around £80m as a variable release clause comes into play.
However, that would make the race to sign him more difficult as the increasing interest in him will mean more suitors and a war between clubs for Haaland’s signature.
If a deal is brokered this summer, though, Chelsea will be hoping to build good relations with Dortmund in the hope of brining in Bellingham in later years.
Bellingham has impressed at the Westfalenstadion over the last 12 months, earning a spot in the first-team and getting a place in the England squad for Euro 2020.
Bellingham will be the club’s long-term target, but like Haaland, he will not be easy to get with interest from others rising in recent months.
Will Chelsea sign both Erling Haaland and Jude Bellingham in the coming years? Let us know in the comments below.
Manchester United will be up there, having been very interested in him last year and showing him around their facilities to convince him to move to Old Trafford.
Chelsea previously rejected approaches from Dortmund over the transfers of Kevin de Bruyne and Michy Batshuayi but will be hoping that is forgotten as they start new negotiations soon.
