Chelsea have sights set on raiding AC Milan to provide cover for Chilwell injury
Despite taking a while to feature for Chelsea this season, Thomas Tuchel has been hit hard by the injury to Ben Chilwell in recent weeks.
Tuchel initially opted for Marcus Alonso to start off the campaign, but Chilwell worked his way back into the Chelsea team, and hit a purple patch of form before injury ruled him for what could be the rest of the season.
Due to a recent slump in results, Chelsea have found themselves slightly off the pace in third, despite originally leading the Premier League not too long ago.
In an attempt to avoid throwing their Premier League title charge, Tuchel looks set to raid AC Milan as he looks to add serious cover while Chilwell recovers, it has been reported.
Chelsea have recently done business with Milan, as former boss Frank Lampard sold centre-back Fikayo Tomori to the Italian giants, but now the Blues could return as they target left-back Theo Hernandez.
The 24-year-old has been a huge part of Milan's recent success that has seen then climb up the Serie A table, as they look to reestablish themselves as the European powerhouses that they once were.
The full-back arrived from Real Madrid back in 2019, and according to El Nacional, Tuchel wants Chelsea to do all that they can to sign Hernandez from Milan.
However, they face competition from Tuchel's former side Paris Saint Germain, who are rumoured to be considering a bid worth more than £34million for Hernandez.
The 24-year-old would be worth more, but the Frenchman's deal expires in 2024, leaving Milan at a crossroads if Hernandez isn't interested in extending his stay at the San Siro.
Hernandez has made 100 appearances for Milan since arriving in 2019, scoring an incredible 16 goals from left-back while providing 18 assists.
