Hakim Ziyech is ‘attempting to persuade Chelsea’ to let him join Paris Saint-Germain – as L’Equipe report the West London club has been ‘greedy’ in negotiations.

The former Ajax winger has endured a miserable two-and-a-half year spell at Stamford Bridge and on Monday travelled to Paris in a bid to seal a move to the French titans.

The Blues were open to letting the player leave on loan, after the club revealed they would be keen to let the player leave to a non-Premier League rival before the end of the January transfer window.

Reports in France claim the Premier League side are being ‘greedy’ in negotiations with PSG

According to reports in L’Equipe, the midfielder has made it clear he wants to join PSG this window after completing a medical on Tuesday.

They also state the 29-year-old has ‘directly intervened’ in exchanges between the two clubs as negotiations continue with Chelsea taking what they call a ‘greedy’ approach.

Despite starring for Morocco in their remarkable run to the World Cup semi-finals – becoming the first African side to do so – Ziyech has continued to struggle at Chelsea this season after a poor first term.

As such the Blues were willing to let him leave, with PSG offering themselves as a potential destination.

Ziyech is yet to score in all competitions this season for Chelsea and has only one assist

At the Parc des Princes, he would reunite with compatriot Achraf Hakimi, who was equally key in their nation’s run to the last four of the World Cup.

As well as the French champions, Serie A giants Roma had also been interested in signing the Moroccan attacker this month, with the Giallorossi looking to climb into the Europa League places in the Italian top-flight.

Jose Mourinho was reportedly keen on bringing the 29-year-old to the Italian capital, but had to first generate the necessary £25million to do so.

With the club bringing in the likes of Mykhailo Mudryk, Joao Felix and Noni Madueke this month, Graham Potter will be keen to offload several attacking players that are likely to be losing their place in the side.

Ziyech has already averaged fewer than 45 minutes a game in his 10 appearances for the Blues in the league, and is yet to score in all competitions, assisting just once.
