Chelsea get Victor Osimhen boost as manager tears into Napoli over deleted video
Pochettino believes Chelsea are ‘building something’
Victor Osimhen’s manager at international level, Jose Peseiro, has torn into Napoli for mocking the Chelsea target on social media. The reigning Serie A champions received backlash for posting a since-deleted video of Osimhen missing a penalty, with the Nigerian said to be ‘saddened’ by the fiasco.
Osimhen could hardly have imagined the scale of the fallout from his penalty miss against Bologna last month. His lawyer threatened Napoli with legal action when the club’s official TikTok account posted a bizarre video of the spurned spot-kick, which referred to him as a coconut and featured a curious sped-up voice.
The 24-year-old played a vital role in the Azzurri’s stunning Serie A triumph last season, scoring 26 league goals to catapult the club to their first league title in three decades.
But a souring relationship has opened up the possibility of a January exit for Osimhen, and ESPN claim that Chelsea have added him to a list of attacking targets.

It reportedly may take £120million to prise Osimhen away from Naples, but Nigeria boss Peseiro has suggested that a new challenge could be best for the player by tearing into Napoli’s social media team.
“That video? From the club? From the outside is one thing but a video from the club, that is the worst,” he told Sky Sports. “That cannot happen. He was sad because it is not easy for anyone. He does not understand it. He does not understand why.

“He helps the team to the league and now they are mocking him? Osimhen is a star. Two years ago, he was not a star. Now, he is a star. And when you are a star, everybody wants more, more, more.
“The others can do bad but if Osimhen does bad it is different because people demand more from the players who can do more. It was a bad thing that Napoli did. Of course, he would prefer they do not do it. But my advice is to stay calm.
“Do not play against the fans. Do not lose balance. Keep the mentality. Keep the personality. That is what the very best players do. And he can be at the top.”
Osimhen has responded to the infamous TikTok video by scoring in three consecutive Serie A games for Napoli. Chelsea fans got another chance to cast their eye over the frontman when he started for Nigeria in a friendly meeting with Saudi Arabia on Friday, and he is also in line to feature next week against Mozambique.
