Chelsea get Caicedo transfer lifeline as Blues hold hope of ruining Arsenal plan
Chelsea confirm Mauricio Pochettino as new boss
Chelsea have been handed a major boost in their pursuit of Moises Caicedo this summer, with Brighton reportedly keen to sign Conor Gallagher this summer. The Blues are willing to entertain offers for the playmaker over the coming months to provide Mauricio Pochettino with funds to orchestrate his rebuild, and he could prove to the be the perfect makeweight for the club.
The Blues are desperate to bolster their midfield ranks over the coming months, identifying Southampton star Romeo Lavia and Caicedo as their leading targets. The latter is attracting plenty of interest from up and down the Premier League though, with Arsenal particularly keen.
Mikel Arteta’s side are desperate to pair the Ecuador international up with Declan Rice in the Gunners’ potential new-look midfield next season. Brighton are open to offers for Caicedo this summer, though they hold the aces in negotiations with Chelsea given that they want to sign ex-loanee Levi Colwill on a permanent basis.
The Blues have insisted that the central defender is not for sale and remains part of Chelsea’s plans, and they may have been offered the chance to use an alternative academy graduate as a makeweight in the deal. According to talkSPORT, Brighton are one of numerous clubs to hold an interest in Gallagher.

With Colwill being deemed ‘not for sale’ at this stage, Chelsea could be keen to offer up the services of their No 23 in order to acquire the services of Caicedo. The Blues are reportedly looking to sell Gallagher this summer to raise funds, though Brighton aren’t the only side keen on acquiring his services.
West Ham have highlighted the 23-year-old as a potential target, with Newcastle, Liverpool and Tottenham all also linked. Thus, Brighton may have to act quickly if they deem a Gallagher plus cash deal a plausible option for Caicedo.
