Chelsea fans turn on Morata with taunts of "Blues reject" during Juventus game

Juventus forward Alvaro Morata received a hostile reception on his return to Stamford Bridge as the Italian side were thumped 4-0 by Chelsea in the Champions League on Tuesday night.

Thomas Tuchel's side secured all three points thanks to goals from Trevoh Chalobah, Reece James, Callum Hudson-Odoi and Timo Werner as the Blues leapfrogged Juventus to go top of Group H.

The emphatic win guaranteed Chelsea's qualification to the knockout stages, and sent out a statement to their European rivals.

Morata, who spent an ill-fated 18 month spell in west London, was roundly mocked by the home supporters, with chants of 'Chelsea reject' echoing around the ground during the first-half.

The Spaniard nearly got on the score-sheet with the game at 1-0, but his lobbed effort was acrobatically cleared off the line by Chelsea defender Thiago Silva.

Morata joined the Blues in 2017 in a £58 million deal from Real Madrid and enjoyed a bright start to his Chelsea career, scoring 10 league goals before Christmas during his first season.

But injury and a series of glaring misses in front of goal sparked a dramatic drop-off in form, and it wasn't long before Morata was benched for new arrival Olivier Giroud.

His second season started slowly amid reports of depression and homesickness and the striker was loaned back to Spain with Atletico Madrid in January 2019.

He left the club permanently 18 months later having scored 24 goals in 72 games for the Blues.

While Morata's Chelsea career was far from a success, there appeared to be no ill-feeling between him and the supporters during his time at the club, making the jibes on Tuesday night all the more perplexing.
