Chelsea fans fume at Kai Havertz as Blues miss chance after chance vs Liverpool

Chelsea fans have been left fuming at Kai Havertz after the misfiring Blues missed chance after chance against Liverpool.

Havertz endured a difficult night in front of goal at Stamford Bridge, missing numerous chances before having a goal disallowed for offside after finally finding the back of the net. His failure to hit the target saw Chelsea draw 0-0 at home to Liverpool in their first match since Graham Potter's sacking on Sunday.

Fans had little sympathy for Havertz, though, and took to social media to vent their frustrations and hit out at the German forward's poor finishing.

One disgruntled supporter tweeted: "Sell havertz, don't care if he's not a number 9, his misses are unforgivable." Another added: "Lmao ofc Havertz misses and then handles it he’s so s***."

A third fans also wrote: "Havertz is going to fully transition into a donkey, one of these misses." One more commented: "Give Auba the chances Havertz misses. Chelsea would be flying."

Chelsea had two goals disallowed as well as missing a host of chances against Liverpool as temporary boss Bruno Saltor took charge for the first time. Overall, the home side had 12 attempts on goal but hit the target just three times.

Havertz was once again deployed as the lone striker despite the change in the dugout, having been deployed in the centre of attack for much of this season.

His woes in front of goal have seen the German score just nine times in 37 appearances across all competitions. However, despite his critics, Havertz is currently Chelsea's top scorer this term.

Tuesday night's goalless draw sees the Blues remain in 11th place in the Premier League, 11 points adrift of the top four with just nine matches remaining, putting the club at risk of missing out on the Champions League for the first time since 2018.

Chelsea fans will hope that a new permanent manager can be appointed quickly to inspire a change in the club's fortunes before the end of the campaign.

According to reports, the search for Potter's replacement has already begun, with both Julian Nagelsmann and Luis Enrique contacted by the club this week.
