Chelsea fans have taken to social media to lament Thiago Silva’s injury in the derby clash with Tottenham.
The 38-year-old has been one of the few shining lights in Graham Potter’s struggling side this season, and started the game against Spurs in the heart of the team’s defence.
However, Silva’s afternoon would come to an abrupt end early in the game when an onrushing Harry Kane appeared to fall on his outstretched leg after he made an important tackle.
Silva attempted to carry on immediately following the incident, but could not continue and was replaced by Wesley Fofana after just 19 minutes at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
As the Brazil international limped off the pitch, Blues fans took to social media to lament their team’s back luck with injuries.

Another user added: ‘Thiago Silva off? Yeah cancel the season.’
The club’s official Twitter account hailed Silva’s ‘vital interception’ immediately before the collision: ‘Vital interception from Thiago Silva moments ago, but it’s left today’s skipper carrying a knock. An early change as he’s replaced by Wesley Fofana.’
A further social media explained that the loss of the former PSG star is especially bad for their team: ‘I can handle all injuries this season but not Thiago Silva.’

If Silva is set for a spell on the sidelines he will join Armando Broja, Christian Pulisic and Edouard Mendy in the club’s treatment room and could miss the club’s vital Champions League Round of 16 second leg against Borussia Dortmund on March 7.
Silva has missed just three Premier League games so far this season, and had captained Potter’s team as they fell to a 1-0 defeat at the Signal Iduna Park on Wednesday.
