Chelsea ‘considering re-appointing Frank Lampard’ after Liverpool draw
Chelsea are reportedly considering re-appointing Frank Lampard as head coach. The Blues legend was at Stamford Bridge for Tuesday’s draw against Liverpool and could get be given the job on a caretaker basis until the end of the season.
Chelsea sacked Graham Potter on Sunday after less than seven months in charge. Julian Nagelsmann, Luis Enrique and Mauricio Pochettino are all linked with the vacancy.
The trio are all out of work currently. But Chelsea owner Todd Boehly could make a stop-gap appointment for the remainder of the season.
Bruno Saltor took charge of the goalless draw with Liverpool. However, it was the first game he has ever taken charge of as a coach at any level.
Lampard was spotted in the stands at Stamford Bridge, watching his old team play. And The Sun claims he would make a sensational return to the Blues dugout.

Lampard was sacked by Chelsea in January 2021 and swiftly replaced by Thomas Tuchel. He has been out of work since being fired by Everton in January.
He would bring more experience on the touchline than Bruno and has the added bonus of knowing many of the Chelsea players. Lampard became Chelsea boss in the summer of 2019 after leaving Derby County.
He had 18 months in charge and led the club to a fourth-placed finish in his only full season at the helm, despite being hampered by a transfer ban. Chelsea have nine games remaining in the Premier League and currently sit 11th in the table.
However, there is the Champions League quarter-final against Real Madrid on the horizon. The first leg at the Bernabeu takes places next Wednesday before the return match in west London a week after.

Chelsea’s struggles in front of goal were again clear to see on Tuesday. The hosts were wasteful against a depleted Liverpool side.
Wolves are next up on Saturday at Molineux. But Bruno does not know if he will still be in charge for that match.
Speaking at his post-match press conference, the Spaniard said: “As it stands I just expect to go home to rest and focus on hour by hour, day by day. The owner know the staff are going to be as professional as we can.
“We try to represent this club the best we can. We know the standards here and what is demanded.”
