Chelsea 'confident they can bring Haaland to Stamford Bridge'
Chelsea ‘are confident they can tempt Erling Haaland to Stamford Bridge this summer’ as owner Roman Abramovich lines up ‘attractive financial package’ in bid to beat Europe’s elite clubs to the Borussia Dortmund star
- Chelsea believe they are in a strong position to sign striker Erling Haaland
- Owner Roman Abramovic is willing to spend big to secure the Norwegian star
- Chelsea’s young talented squad is also thought to be an advantage for them
Chelsea believe they are firmly in the race to sign Norwegian superstar Erling Haaland, with Roman Abramovich said to be ready to splash serious cash to bring the striker to west London.
Despite reports in Germany this week that Chelsea had no chance of prising the 20-year-old from Borussia Dortmund, the Blues believe they have the most attractive Premier League package to offer Haaland, according to ESPN.
On top of Abramovich’s willingness to offer a significant financial package to the £100million-rated Haaland, Chelsea’s position as a squad brimming with expensive young talent is another supposed feather in their cap.

The Blues spent £53m on Timo Werner from Leipzig last summer after a scintellating campaign in the Bundesliga, but the move is yet to pay off – with the German finding it difficult to adapt to the top flight. He has scored just five goals in the Premier League this season.
Manager Thomas Tuchel has already admitted Werner may not suit his current possession-based system, and could see Haaland as a better fit for the squad.
The Norwegian is one of the hottest properties in world football and has scored an astonishing 33 goals in 31 matches for club and country so far this season.

The report also claims that Chelsea’s London status could also be tempting to Haaland, with the west Londoners the only club in the capital with any real chance of signing him.
Chelsea’s Premier League rivals Manchester United, Liverpool and Manchester City are reported to be higher in Haaland’s thinking regarding a move to England.
Man City hope the family connection that his father, Alf-Inge, formerly played for them will prove a trump card in what is sure to be a fierce bidding war.

Man United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, however, has said he remains in regular contact with his fellow Norwegian.
Other clubs outside the Premier League that are also in the race for Haaland include Real Madrid, Paris Saint Germain, Barcelona and Juventus.
Madrid said they believed Man City were their main obstacle in terms of signing Haaland, with the Norwegian potentially a more viable option financially than their top target Kylian Mbappe.
Haaland’s market value is currently around the £100m mark and an exit clause of £90m in his Dortmund contract won’t come into effect until 2022.
