Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel has reportedly requested more recruits from Marina Granovskaia and Petr Cech before the end of the summer transfer window. So far, the Blues have only made one major signing, although it did not exactly fly under the radar when goal-machine Romelu Lukaku sealed his blockbuster £98million return to Stamford Bridge.
Granovskaia and Cech, the club’s technical and performance advisors, cannot be faulted for their ambition over the past few weeks.
Much of their summer was occupied by an audacious pursuit of boy-wonder Erling Haaland.
A swap deal was reportedly proposed which included Tammy Abraham heading the other way, but Borussia Dortmund, in as healthy a financial position as ever, were in no mood to compromise.
Chelsea’s loss was brought into the spotlight over the past week or so, with Haaland ruthlessly bagging five goals across his first two games of the season.

However, to Cech and Granovskaia’s credit, they followed up their disappointment by completing the club-record signing of Romelu Lukaku from Inter Milan.
As a goal-scorer at the very top of his game, a striker like the Belgian is exactly what Tuchel wanted to bolster his attacking options.
According to The Athletic, Chelsea’s boss requested two or three new players at the start of the summer.
The report also states that the working relationship between Tuchel, Cech and Granovskaia has been smooth sailing throughout but, with only Lukaku through the door so far, one or two more would be needed to grant the German his wish.

Sevilla centre-back Jules Kounde seemed to be on his way to Stamford Bridge several weeks ago, although the Lukaku deal promptly saw that pursuit fall down the pecking order.
In the meantime, the surprising early-season performances of Trevoh Chalobah, capped off with his fantastic strike against Crystal Palace, could officially put that chase to bed.
Jude Bellingham was proposed by Eurosport’s Dean Jones as a player Chelsea are monitoring, a midfielder who has also been tailed by Manchester United.
As one of the most sought after youngsters in Europe, he would not come cheap, but that has not stopped the Blues so far this summer.
Reinforcements have been deemed crucial this campaign with United, Liverpool and Manchester City all strengthening their respective squads.
Chelsea’s routine 3-0 win over Crystal Palace should instil them with confidence, given Lukaku is still to enter the fray.
A rampant Lukaku debut would highlight the club’s success in the summer market, which could serve as a kick up the backside to grant Tuchel’s wish of at least one more player before the window slams shut.
