Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel is happy with his squad amid links to Saul Niguez, according to reports. The Atletico Madrid star is being linked with a move to Stamford Bridge, as well as Manchester United. And though the Blues are open to striking a deal, it’s the club’s hierarchy, rather than Tuchel, who are pushing for an agreement.
Chelsea have signed just Romelu Lukaku so far this summer, with the Belgium international joining in a huge £98million deal from Inter Milan.
But, despite winning the Champions League last term and claiming two victories in as many matches in the Premier League this season, the Blues want more.
Saul is currently on the market, with Atletico open to offloading the 26-year-old as they look to balance the books in the wake of the coronavirus crisis.
And ESPN claim Chelsea are, as things stand, negotiating a deal for the Spain international.
However, it’s also revealed that Tuchel himself isn’t involved in the proceedings.

The German ‘isn’t pushing’ to sign Saul this summer due to the fact he’s currently happy with his squad, especially given their fine form since his appointment in January.
Yet that hasn’t stopped the Chelsea board from trying to land the midfielder on loan ahead of the August 31 deadline.
Manchester United, too, are in the mix.
But it’s stated Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side are yet to agree a deal for Saul, which appears to boost Chelsea’s chances of winning the race.
Should he move to west London, he’d compete with the likes of N’Golo Kante, Matteo Kovacic and Jorginho for a starting berth.

And it would also effectively end Chelsea’s pursuit of Declan Rice, who has long been admired over at Stamford Bridge.
Speaking after the Blues’ 2-0 win over Arsenal on Sunday, Tuchel opened up on the possibility of more signings.
And he admitted that Chelsea ‘don’t have the biggest squad’, suggesting his side are open to adding more reinforcements to their squad.
“I am absolutely happy with our squad and the alternatives we have,” he said.
“It’s not too big a squad, we were missing Christian Pulisic today and that meant everybody else was in the squad.
“That means we maybe don’t have the biggest squad but that we have a very competitive squad in all positions.
“This, on one hand, is necessary because we play a lot of competitions and we play the World Club Cup in December.
“We also played very long last season and there was the Euros and Copa America.
“So if we want to compete we need this level. But at the same time, it’s also important we’re a strong group, this was maybe the key for the last half a year. We played with a strong bond and a great team spirit.
“This is a challenge for the team and for me to create this atmosphere again. And that everybody is ready to take hard decisions and keep pushing the team.
“If we do this we can achieve more than we have.”
Chelsea could lose several players before the transfer window slams shut.
Davide Zappacosta, Danny Drinkwater, Ross Barkley and Tiemoue Bakayoko may join Tammy Abraham, Olivier Giroud and Victor Moses out of the exit door.
