Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has told three of the club’s high-profile outcasts to find new clubs this season, according to reports. Tuchel is entering his first full campaign at the helm and has a clear idea of who doesn’t fit into his plans as he looks to build on May’s Champions League glory.

This summer, Chelsea have made a major addition, with Romelu Lukaku returning in a club-record £97.5million deal.

The Blues have also been strongly linked with Sevilla centre-back Jules Kounde in a deal potentially worth around £70m.

As Tuchel continues to shape his squad the way he wants, departures should also be expected in the final few weeks of the transfer window.

Based on recent reports, at least three more summer exits are possible before the August 31 deadline.

According to The Athletic, Tuchel has told Danny Drinkwater, Ross Barkley, and Tiemoue Bakayoko to organise new clubs this month.

Chelsea haven’t given all three players squad numbers for the new season, confirming they’re not in the German boss’ thinking.

The club will lose a lot of money on all three stars who joined between 2017 and 2018, but it must be a priority to get them off the wage bill while their prospects of minutes are non-existent.

Altogether, Drinkwater, Barkley and Bakayoko cost Chelsea a combined total of £90m for their respective arrivals.

Bakayoko joined from then-French champions AS Monaco in a £40m deal in 2017, arriving as one of the most exciting young midfielders in Europe.

Later on, in the same window, Chelsea paid £35m to lure Drinkwater away from Leicester City, where he played a part in their miraculous 2016 Premier League title win.

A year later, the Blues paid £15m to sign Barkley from boyhood club Everton, where he had grown the reputation as one of the league’s most exciting midfield stars.

It seems like it’s now down to the trio to find new clubs before the transfer deadline.

Chelsea have already made high-profile sales this summer, including Fikayo Tomori, Marc Guehi, Olivier Giroud and Victor Moses.

Tuchel evidently wants to cut his squad further, though, as he undoubtedly eyes adding the Premier League title to his growing trophy collection.

It’s a summer of change at most clubs, and Chelsea are by no means no exception to that statement.
