Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is under extreme pressure at Manchester United, with fans calling for him to be sacked following their 5-0 defeat to Liverpool. And according to reports, Thomas Tuchel’s immediate success since taking over at Chelsea has left the United board mulling over whether they should act quickly and sack Solskjaer sooner rather than later.
United sit in seventh place after going winless in their last four games, with Solskjaer feeling the heat from players, the club’s board and fans alike.
Their 4-2 loss at the hands of Leicester raised slight concern, but it was the 5-0 loss to Liverpool that set the alarm bells ringing in the boardroom at Old Trafford.
Solskjaer has been given public backing by those above him, however, it remains to be seen just how long he will have left if he cannot bring an end to United’s bad run of form.
After making some big signings in the summer, the Red Devils had hoped to be challenging for the title and competing with Manchester City and Liverpool who have set the standard in recent years.
But things have not gone to plan. Tuchel however has managed to join those two clubs in the title mix with his Chelsea side, with the Blues sat top of the Premier League after a brilliant start to the campaign.

According to BILD’s Christian Falk, the German was previously on the radar of Old Trafford chiefs before they decided against him to stick with Solskjaer – but Tuchel has shown them what a difference a new coach can make, having won the Champions League and turned Chelsea into title contenders since replacing Frank Lampard and that could impact the board’s decision on whether or not to hire a new manager.
“Tuchel was on Manchester United’s mind in the past when there were discussions about coaches,” he told BILD.
“With Tuchel at Chelsea, they have seen what is possible with a squad that is well staffed but also has a good coach.
“Suddenly you win the Champions League when before that, Chelsea weren’t even championship contenders.
“Now they’re leading the table, and that’s exactly the kind of effect, and that’s what Manchester United would like to have because the players are there to compete right at the top.
“But the results are not good enough and it’s a very, very bad sign for the coach.”
Tuchel has already won more trophies in nine months at Chelsea than Solskjaer has in three years at United.

Solskjaer knows the significance of a result on the weekend, with the United boss potentially facing the chop if they suffer another defeat.
