Chelsea ‘are interested’ in signing Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Leandro Paredes, according to reports.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side have been looking to strengthen their options in the middle of the field and had an £80million bid for Brighton’s Moises Caicedo rejected earlier this week.
And according to the Evening Standard, the Blues are now ‘considering alternative options’ with Brighton ‘unwilling to lower their asking price for the Ecuadorian.’
The outlet claims that Pochettino’s side have been ‘becoming frustrated by a lack of progress in their move for Caicedo’ and add that they are now eyeing up a move for Paredes.
The 29-year-old, who spent last season on loan at Juventus, is currently in the final year of his contract at the Parc des Princes and the Evening Standard claim ‘is available at a reasonable price’.

Paredes notably fell out with Juventus boss Massimiliano Allegri last year, with the pair engaging in a heated argument after he was ‘left out of a game against Inter Milan’.
The Argentine joined the Ligue 1 champions back in 2019 and notably played under his compatriot, Pochettino, during his spell in charge at PSG.
He would go on to return three goals and ten assists across 117 games for the Parisians and notably played 114 minutes of the 2022 World Cup final for Argentina, scoring a penalty in the resulting shoot-out to help his side win the tournament.
Meanwhile, Chelsea’s summer clear out has left them needing some new options in midfield, with all of Mateo Kovacic, N’Golo Kante, Mason Mount and Ruben Loftus-Cheek departing this summer.
Pochettino’s side are now being linked with several players from all over Europe’s top leagues.

They have been ‘considering’ a move for Leeds’ midfielder Tyler Adams and have also been linked with a move to sign with Liverpool target Romeo Lavia.
Mail Sport has also previously reported that Chelsea have shown an interest in Everton’s Amadou Onana, while the club have also been in talks to sign £35m-rated Gabri Veiga from Celta Vigo.
Yesterday, the south London outfit also agreed a £25m deal with Brighton to sign goalkeeper Robert Sanchez following the departure of Edouard Mendy this summer.
