Chelsea are exploring a deal for Brighton goalkeeper Robert Sanchez.
The 25-year old has found himself out of the first team following Roberto de Zerbi’s decision to favour Jason Steele and they have since added Bart Verbruggen from Anderlecht for £17m.
Sanchez has been capped by Spain but is regarded as a homegrown player having been in Brighton’s academy since he was 15.
Chelsea want competition for Kepa Arrizabalaga having sold Edouard Mendy to Al Ahli while Gabriel Slonina is in talks to join KAS Eupen in Belgium.
Sanchez has proven Premier League pedigree and was considered by Manchester United also earlier in the window.

The complication is that Chelsea are still in negotiations with Brighton for £100m-rated midfielder Moises Caicedo and have so far failed to find agreement on a fee.
Chelsea goalkeeper coach Ben Roberts knows Sanchez well having worked with him at Brighton.
The former Seagulls coach remained employed by the Blues despite the departure of Graham Potter last season.
He has been handed further responsibility this season and is overseeing the goalkeeper department, as he could re-unite with Sanchez this summer.
It remains to be seen as to whether Chelsea will make an official bid for Sanchez, with youngster Gabriel Slonina reportedly set to depart on loan.
This leaves the Blues without a recognised back-up option at the moment, as Marcus Bettinelli remains injured and is not part of their pre-season tour.
