Chelsea aim to jump Haaland queue and fail with Varane for Werner swap bid

Chelsea are being tipped to bolster Thomas Tuchel's squad with a number of reinforcements this summer as they look to build on last season's Champions League triumph.

Tuchel landed the biggest prize in club football after just four months in the Blues hot-seat, having replaced sacked boss Frank Lampard at the end of January.

The German guided Chelsea to their second European Cup by toppling Manchester City in the Champions League final, and now he will want to push on and mount a Premier League title challenge next season.

Stamford Bridge officials are expected to sanction several incomings and outgoings this summer to help him do exactly that, and Daily Star Sport are on hand with the latest Chelsea transfer developments below.

Blues want to jump Haaland queue

Erling Haaland is one of the most sought-after players in world football right now, with a host of top European clubs vying for his signature.

Borussia Dortmund reportedly value the 20-year-old striker at around £150million, however a £65million release clause will enter his contract next year.

According to Eurosport, though, sources close to Chelsea believe the club will test Dortmund's resolve in case they can jump the queue for Haaland this summer.

Blues chiefs are said to have identified him as a top transfer target, but Manchester United and Real Madrid could provide competition should they launch a bid.

Madrid not interested in Varane swap

Chelsea have emerged as surprise contenders to sign wantaway Madrid defender Raphael Varane, who has been heavily linked with a move to United this summer.

Recent reports have suggested that new Los Blancos boss Carlo Ancelotti is an admirer of Timo Werner, meaning the European champions have been exploring the possibility of including their misfiring forward in a potential player-plus-cash deal for Varane.

Yet, Defensa Central claim Madrid have no intention of including Werner in a deal for the France international, who only has a year remaining on his contract, and instead want to sell him for an outright fee.

Werner agent discusses links

Amid talk of a potential move to the Bernabeu, Werner's agent Karlheinz Forsterbe has spoken out about the possibility of his client leaving Chelsea in the near future.

"You can’t rule out anything," Forsterbe told Sport1.

"But if I had to assess it at the moment, then I would say very clearly that Timo will stay at Chelsea.
