Scott Brown reportedly reached a verbal agreement to join Aberdeen’s new management team as a player-coach after turning in a man of the match display in the Old Firm derby. The Celtic skipper is said to have told the Dons he was willing to join the club alongside former Hibernian team-mate Stephen Glass, who was interviewed for the role last week.
Glass is set to take over the reins at Pittodrie following the departure of Derek McInnes, who left the club by mutual consent earlier this month.
Former England boss Sven-Goran Eriksson was among those linked with the hot-seat but the Swede ruled himself out of the running.
But now Atlanta United 2 head coach and former Watford and Newcastle winger Glass is expected to be appointed in the next 48 hours.
Brown will be coming with him to be his No 2 in a move that has been speculated for several weeks.

The 35-year-old has been offered a one-year contract extension by the Bhoys, who faced a huge summer following Rangers’ title triumph.
However, the Daily Record report that Brown reached a verbal agreement with Aberdeen chairman Dave Cormack after the 1-1 draw with Rangers, to make the move to the North East.
Although an announcement could be imminent, Brown will stay with Celtic for the rest of the campaign.
He will be looking to add to his trophy collection in May when he will look to sign off at Parkhead by winning the Scottish Cup.

When the season finishes, Brown will then embark on his new role with Aberdeen with his playing days not yet completely done.
The veteran will captain Aberdeen in a player-coach role as part of the management team.
He is then expected to be fast-tracked into management when he decides to hang up his boots.
It’s not the first time Brown has come close to leaving Celtic in recent times.
Back in 2019, he turned down the chance to move to Australia to join A-League side Western United.
The offer Down Under was a chance to build up a new club, while enjoying some time on the golf course.
But having just won Celtic’s eighth league title in a row, Brown was not prepared to walk away from winning trophies.
Now he is finally preparing to say goodbye, meaning he is likely to have played his last-ever game in front of Celtic fans in the famous Hoops shirt.
