Celtic were dumped out of the Champions League after drawing 1-1 with Shakhtar Donetsk on Tuesday evening.

The Hoops had opened the scoring thanks to Giorgos Giakoumakis as he pounced on a loose ball after 35 minutes.

However, the Ukrainian side hit back in the second half following a wonder goal from the dangerous Mykhaylo Mudryk.

The Hoops had opened the scoring thanks to Giorgos Giakoumakis’s first half finish

 

Giakoumakis had pounced on a loose ball and slotted home after 35 minutes of the game

Danylo Sikan missed a big chance to take all three points for Shakhtar Donetsk late on and the two sides could not be separated. 

The result leaves Celtic bottom of Group F with two points from five games, while Shakhtar Donetsk are three points off second place RB Leipzig after the German side defeated Real Madrid 3-2.

Shakhtar will face Leipzig in their final group game knowing a win would secure a memorable qualification to the knockout stages.

Celtic meanwhile head to the Bernabeu to take on Carlo Ancelotti’s Real Madrid who will be keen to secure top spot in Group F after their defeat tonight.
