The 30-year-old has made the move from Real Madrid, with the Red Devils agreeing a deal that could rise to £70m and handing out a contract running until 2026, with an option of a further year.
It is a lot of money and a long contract for a 30-year-old, but there is no question over his quality, with 63 Brazil caps to his name, along with five Champions League titles and three La Liga crowns.
The fans have certainly got excited about the Brazilian’s arrival and the atmosphere was great as he wandered out onto the Old Trafford pitch wearing a suit before the Liverpool game.
There was even an unexpected chat and hug between United’s new midfield general and one of the greatest the club has ever had in Keane.
The Irishman was working for Sky Sports, standing on the edge of the pitch, when Casemiro came over to exchange pleasantries and enjoy an embrace.
‘I spoke to my agent after the Champions League final as I had the feeling that I was coming to the end of my cycle here,’ he said.
‘It was the hardest decision of my life but I’m excited about what’s ahead of me. I want to face new challenges, know a different league, a different country and a different culture.
‘I’m going to the biggest team in the world, that can compete with the greatness of Real Madrid, although now it doesn’t.’
