Carlo Ancelotti has rallied his Everton troops by warning Manchester City that no team is unbeatable.
Quadruple-chasing City will be red-hot favourites to book a spot in the FA Cup semi-finals when they visit Goodison Park this evening.
Pep Guardiola's side were at the same ground last month in the Premier League and ran out comfortable 3-1 winners.
Ancelotti said that night it was “almost impossible” to compete with City but now he is firing up his side ahead of the quarter-final clash.
He said: “We have to be focused on what we want to do on the pitch and forget about the quality of Manchester City. Everyone knows.
“We have to be focused on ourselves and what we want to do, use a good attitude and a good spirit. “It is a knockout, maybe the game will be 90 minutes long, maybe two hours.
“Maybe it will go to penalties, you never know.
“Man City feels unbeatable in this moment but in the history of football no team is unbeatable.”
Ancelotti has plenty of experience of going up against sides in relentless form like when his Real Madrid side faced Barcelona and Lionel Messi.
He added: “When we played a lot of time when I was in Madrid against Messi – who was one of the best opponents – don’t talk about Messi to the players. They are going to be scared.
“I try not to talk too much about Manchester City. Everyone knows the players and the quality of the individuals and the quality of the team. Focus on what you have to do.”
Joao Virginia, 21, will make just his second start in goal for the Toffees with keepers Jordan Pickford and Robin Olsen both ruled out with injury.
