Carlo Ancelotti makes top-four prediction as Everton eye Champions League spot
Everton boss Carlo Ancelotti reckons the fight for the Champions League will go down to the final day.
The race for the top four is hotly contest with a host of top sides looking to ensure their place at Europe's top table.
Everton have continued to invest with Ancelotti in the midst of his first full season.
The Toffees topped the table early on in the season and remain in contention for the top four.
They sit in seventh place but can move into the top four should they win their game in hand.
Ancelotti's sole focus for now though is remaining in the fight as he anticipates it going down to the wire.
"I forgot there was that game and maybe Liverpool or Chelsea can be in the top four, but it doesn't matter," he said.
"We want three points, it is important to stay in the fight.
"I'm sure this situation with the European positions will be decided in the last game, and we want to be there until the last game."
Toffees owner Farhad Moshiri sanctioned moves for the likes of James Rodriguez, Allan and Ben Godfrey in the summer.
Joshua King was also added in January which has continued to heighten expectation.
But Ancelotti has used that as motivation and is not concerned by the club's lofty ambitions.
"We are pleased to be in the fight," added the Italian.
"We have to use our expectations as a motivation. If expectations are high it is absolutely normal at a club with fantastic history. We want to be back there as they were in the past.
"Expectation is not a bad word in my opinion. It is a good word. It keeps you motivated. I think it's important to have ambition."
