The draw for the semi-finals of this season’s Carabao Cup took place on Wednesday evening, with the teams still involved now just three games away from potentially lifting silverware at Wembley.

Arsenal were the first team to go into the hat for the last four following their thumping 5-1 victory over League One side Sunderland on Tuesday.

On Wednesday the three remaining ties took place, with Chelsea beating Brentford 2-0, Tottenham seeing off West Ham 2-1 and Liverpool defeating Leicester courtesy of a penalty shootout after the sides had played out a 3-3 draw at Anfield.

Arsenal were drawn to face Liverpool in the last four of the competition, while Chelsea were selected to go head-to-head with Tottenham.

The first leg of the semis will take place on Tuesday, January 4 or Wednesday, 5. And the return matches will be played a week later on Tuesday, January 11 or Wednesday, 12.

Our live blog below details the draw as it happened.

That concludes the draw for the Carabao Cup semi-finals. Good luck to the sides vying for a place in the final. Thanks for following.

February Final

The Carabao Cup final will take place at Wembley Stadium on Sunday, February 27.

Of the four teams remaining in the competition, Chelsea were the last to win the trophy.

The Blues tasted success in 2015 when they beat Tottenham in the final.

Two-legged semi-finals

Last season, the Carabao Cup semi-finals were reduced to one leg. There was talk of the same happening this season.

But the fixtures will take place over two legs.

Can Tottenham go one better than last season?

Tottenham defeated Chelsea on their way to reaching the final of last season’s Carabao Cup.

But they suffered heartache in the final as they lost 1-0 to Manchester City.

Bizarrely, former manager Jose Mourinho was sacked just days before the showpiece event.

With Antonio Conte now at the helm, Spurs will be looking to go one better this season and lift the trophy. The Italian is of course a former Blues manager.

Arsenal seek Liverpool revenge

Arsenal were thrashed 4-0 by Liverpool in the Premier League last month and will be looking to get revenge on Jurgen Klopp’s side in the New Year.

Last season the sides met in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup, with the Gunners coming out on top on that occasion after a penalty shootout.

The draw has been made

Arsenal will face Liverpool in the first semi-final.

Chelsea will go head-to-head with London rivals Tottenham.

Wins for the big sides

Premier League big hitters Chelsea, Liverpool and Tottenham all won their quarter-finals on Wednesday night.

The Blues won 2-0 at Brentford, while Tottenham beat West Ham 2-1 at home.

Liverpool stunned Leicester City with a second half comeback at Anfield.

Arsenal already booked their place in the last four on Tuesday night after thrashing League One Sunderland 5-1.

Liverpool are through!

Jurgen Klopp’s side are the fourth and final side to book a place in the semi-final.

An incredible game against Leicester, which finished 3-3, and then an even more enthralling penalty shootout sees Liverpool through.

They join Tottenham, Arsenal and Chelsea in the draw.
