Legendary Italian coach Fabio Capello was bemused by Southampton boss Ralph Hasenhuttl breaking down in tears after the 1-0 victory over Liverpool.
The Saints defeated Jurgen Klopp’s side thanks to a second minute goal from Danny Ings but had to put in a spirited defensive display to deny the top-flight leaders three points.
The Austrian coach dropped to his knees when the victory was secured and burst into tears as Southampton sit four points off the top of the Premier League table.

‘I don’t understand this sort of thing,’ former Juventus, Roma, Milan and England boss Capello told Sky Sport Italia.
‘He was working, a bit of emotion is fine in these situations, but this was completely over the top.
‘Why on earth would you start crying?!
Hasenhuttl broke down at the final whistle as he saw his Southampton side beat the Premier League champions on Monday.

He told Sky after the game: ‘I’ve never taken points against Jurgen. I started to believe we could to do and they were so strong up front. You could believe that something could happen.
‘The way we defended today was amazing. The effort the guys put in was the key of winning. The mentality was even better. The perfect day for us, the perfect evening for us and an important step forward I think.’
Hasenhuttl was consoled by Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp after the game who praised the Austrian’s team for their defensive display.

Klopp claimed: ‘They threw everything – the attitude of Southampton was exceptional. That’s why we lost tonight and didn’t have the result in last few weeks. It’s up to us to change that.
Southampton’s brilliant start to the season comes a year after they were beaten 9-0 at home to Leicester City.
