Cambridge told to ‘liquidate’ after copying Ronaldo to celebrate Newcastle win
Cambridge United have been told to ‘liquidate’ after posting a video on social media showing their players copying Cristiano Ronaldo's 'Siu' celebration in the aftermath of their FA Cup win over Newcastle.
The Amber Army claimed one of the biggest giantkillings in the Cup’s history in their trip to St James’ Park, where they faced what is now the richest club in the world in the Magpies.
But despite Saudi Arabia-owned Newcastle sitting in the Premier League, it was the team currently 16th in League One who progressed into the fourth round.
Thanks to a stunning performance from goalkeeper Dimitar Mitov and Joe Ironside’s strike from close range, Cambridge claimed the scalp of the Magpies.
But their celebrations of the victory have been slammed after the club’s official Twitter account posted a video showing how they marked the win.
The visiting supporters were situated high up in the stands at St James’ Park, with the U’s holding their celebrations in the box in front of them.
Eleven of the players then ran from the edge of the box, jumped up and twisted in the air, before landing and shouting “Siu” in the style of Manchester United superstar Ronaldo.
The video was captioned “Que Siurá, Siurá” as a play on the famous chant sung during Cup games, Que Sera, Sera.

But the reaction on social media will not be welcome viewing for those Cambridge players, with some calling for the club to ‘liquidate’ as a punishment for doing the Ronaldo celebration.
“Hope you liquidate now,” one fan wrote.
“I did congratulate you but I take it back,” added another.
“Well now you’ve spoilt it,” a third tweeted.
“Liquidate after that,” a fourth wrote.
