Calvert-Lewin’s dad in tears over injury as he calls out ‘Stone Island numptys’
Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s dad was brought to tears by the facial injury sustained by the Everton striker on Sunday (August 20) against Aston Villa, whilst he also hit out at abuse from ‘Stone Island numptys’.
The Everton striker was forced off in the first half of the Toffees’ 4-0 hammering at Villa Park after he suffered a nasty looking cheekbone injury after colliding with Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez.
Despite originally carrying on, Calvert-Lewin was later substituted as the swelling under his right eye left a massive lump, in another injury blow for the England international – who played just 34 Premier League games in the two seasons prior.
And Calvert-Lewin’s dad, Karlda, was in attendance at Villa Park to watch his son in action, but he revealed in a heartfelt post on Facebook, following the defeat, how his son’s injury and the reaction from Everton fans has affected him.

Calvert-Lewin’s dad wrote: “The life of a Premier League footballer Dad.
“The last time I went to Villa Park he was a 16 year old sub for Sheffield United. Today I was there to see him start his first game in two years that he’s been fully fit.
“I was nervous beyond belief but I knew how hard he’d worked to recover so had faith he’d be ok.
“To see my son hurt like that brought me to tears again. It always will no matter what age he is. He’s now in hospital getting sorted.
“I hear the names he gets called by his own ‘fans’ first hand and what I will say is this.
“My son lives the dream daily like you wouldn’t believe and that won’t change, regardless of what some numpty in Stone Island gear shouts. Stay bitter fellas. Stay bitter.
“So it’s another little set back in a long list of setbacks but he’ll be alright. He always is.”
Calvert-Lewin’s father will be hoping to see his son back in action as soon as possible along with the Everton faithful, who again saw their side struggle in front of goal, with Sean Dyche’s men yet to score in either of their Premier League defeats so far this season.
