Caicedo’s social media activity could provide clue £4.5m Man Utd transfer is on

Moises Caicedo has hinted at an imminent move to Manchester United on Instagram.

The Ecuador international midfielder was linked with a move to Old Trafford ahead of the January transfer window, and there appears to be substance behind the reported interest.

The teenager is set to cost in the region of just £4.5m as negotiations continue, following an impressive start to his career with Independiente del Valle in the Ecuadorean Serie A.

If a deal is agreed then a transfer later this month is likely, and it appears as though he has already made up his mind over where his future lies in 2021.

Caicedo has now ‘liked’ post from the official Manchester United account on Instagram.

The video was a TikTok of midfielder Paul Pogba, which reads: “Control so good we had to watch it twice.”

That comes after Manchester Evening News reported that Caicedo is set to join the club for a fee in the region of £4.5m, in a deal that could include a sell-on clause of 20 per cent.

They add that negotiations are still ongoing, and the interest comes from the club’s new recruitment strategy, which has led to the imminent arrival of Amad Diallo from Atalanta.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer addressed his plans for the window back in November, urging supporters not to expect a huge spend despite their dreams of title glory.

He said: "It's hard to predict how other teams (will act) and how the financial situation is.

"If teams need to sell or if they've got money to buy…

"I don't predict a lot of ins and outs, to be fair.

"The world, financially, and in football, has changed as well also. It depends how the injury situations are at different teams. I feel very happy with my squad at the moment. We're getting stronger.

"I still have issues every week when we only get an 18-man squad to pick from.

"Who do you leave out? I feel I'm in a good position."
