Burnley rivalling Crystal Palace for Watford's £5m-rated Will Hughes
Burnley to go head-to-head with Crystal Palace in pursuit of Watford’s £5m-rated Will Hughes with Premier League duo seeking midfield additions before the end of the window
- Palace reportedly had bid rejected in a blow to Patrick Vieira’s hopes to sign him
- The south London club are understood to be refusing to offer more than £5m
- Burnley could therefore swoop in to sign the 26-year-old by end of the window
Burnley are rivalling Crystal Palace in the battle for midfielder Will Hughes.
The Watford star could be available in a cut-price deal – potentially as little as £5million.
The 26-year-old is going cheaper than expected due to the fact his contract at Vicarage Road expires at the end of the season.

Sean Dyche is keen to bolster his midfield options and the Watford star could be a perfect fit
Palace’s interest is at an advanced stage, but Burnley have made their own proposal with a view to signing Hughes by the end of the month.
It remains to be seen, however, if Hughes is interested in leaving the Watford this season ahead of a potentially lucrative free transfer move away next summer.
He has already rejected a two-year deal on the table from Watford, and with his deal expiring next summer looks likely to leave.
Hughes is training with the Hornets’ Under-23 side and has been cut out of first-team action
The former Derby central midfielder has been cut out of the first-team and is currently training with the Under-23 side.
However, Watford are determined not to lose him for a pittance and value him higher than Palace’s £5m bid.
With the Eagles understood to be unwilling to raise that offer, Burnley would likely need to improve on it to secure his services.
