Burnley are interested in exploring a late move for Ross Barkley but a deal looks complicated with little time remaining in the transfer window. The Clarets have already completed the signing of Swansea’s Welsh international full-back Connor Roberts this morning and Sean Dyche is open to one last signing before tonight’s deadline as he looks to strengthen his pack.
Barkley was stripped of the No 8 shirt at Chelsea earlier this month and is not part of Thomas Tuchel’s plans for the campaign, despite featuring in pre-season.
He has been told he can find a new club but interest in the player has been few and far between.
Express Sport understands Burnley are now looking into a late deal for Barkley, although the early indications are the finances do not add up for the Clarets.
The attacking midfielder reportedly earns in the region of £100,000 per week, which could cause complications and Chelsea are also expected to request a loan fee, although they are keen to get the player off their books permanently.

Barkley spent last season on loan at Aston Villa where he caught the eye in patches but Dean Smith opted against signing him on a permanent deal.
The England international has 33 caps for his country and needs some love once again to get his career back on track after falling off the map in west London.
He is one of many players in the shop window on deadline day, while Ruben Loftus-Cheek is now expected to stay at Chelsea.

He is one of many established Premier League players in the shop window on deadline day, while Ruben Loftus-Cheek is now expected to stay at Chelsea.
Express Sport exclusive reportedly yesterday that Loftus-Cheek was set to consider any last-minute offers that arrive on deadline day but no suitable proposals have presented themselves as of yet, meaning he is expected to stay and fight for his place at Stamford Bridge.
Reports in Italy have claimed the likes of Roma, Lazio and Napoli are interested but none of those clubs have tabled a bid for the Chelsea man.
Burnley are enjoying an impressive summer after the £15m club-record capture of Maxwel Cornet from Lyon.
The Ivory Coast international has scored four times against Manchester City in the Champions League in recent years and was also targeted by Watford.
Cornet can play at both full-back and on the wing and Burnley are delighted to add him to their squad after convincing him to move to Turf Moor amid interest from Hertha Berlin.
