Bundesliga ‘light years ahead’ of Premier League after ref’s live TV interview
The Premier League might have more money, drama and Erling Haalands than the Bundesliga does, but that doesn't necessarily mean it's a better division.
German football has led the way tactically and administratively for years now, and the way its been dealing with controversial rereferring calls has even English fans branding it "light years ahead" of the Prem.
Following Bayern Munich's 1-1 draw with RB Leipzig last week, referee Daniel Siebert went on camera to explain his contentious decision not to send Dayot Upamecano off despite the Frenchman hacking down Leipzig's Dominik Szoboszlai when he was through on goal.

The official not only explained why he made the call – something Bundesliga officials have been doing for years – but also took questions from Leipzig manager Marco Rose, who joined him on camera half-way through the interview.
Despite being apoplectic at the time, Rose accepted Siebert's decision and admitted he was wrong, and the two shook hands and shared a little cuddle, leaving Premier League fans wondering why the same couldn't be done over the Channel.

"This is so good," one fan tweeted in response to a clip of the interview, "why on earth can't we have this in the Prem?"
"Bundesliga is light years ahead of the Premier League," another commented, while a third argued: "This is the way forward for the Premier League, in both VAR and on-pitch officiating. Make them accountable, and the decisions will dramatically improve."
Some fans however were more pessimistic than others, with one writing: "This will never happen in England. How can they possibly explain why the opposition can rarely get a decision in their favour at Anfield or Old Trafford. It would expose the lack of consistency even more."
Another said: "This won't work in the Prem. Can't imagine the likes of Klopp or Conte being as respectable as Rose was."
