Bukayo Saka’s boyhood hero was Man Utd legend who used to torment Arsenal
Bukayo Saka has revealed Cristiano Ronaldo as his boyhood hero – despite the Portuguese legend’s habit of tormenting Arsenal during his pomp.
Saka has been grilled by new Gunners team-mate Kai Havertz as part of a light-hearted Q&A, which has been shared by ESPN. One of the questions was, “who was your boyhood hero?”.
Without even flinching, Saka replied immediately by saying Ronaldo, who had an impressive record against Arsenal during his time with United. He won half of his 18 meetings against the Gunners, then managed by Arsene Wenger. Meanwhile, Arsenal defeated a United side containing Ronaldo just five times.
His most destructive performance came in the 2009 Champions League semi-final. After United had won the first leg at Old Trafford 1-0, Ronaldo ran riot in the second leg at the Emirates.

He scored twice and set up the other as United romped to a 3-1 win on the night, 4-1 on aggregate, only to lose in the final to Barcelona.
Saka was also asked who would play him in a movie – the answer being Will Smith. Meanwhile, Arsenal icon Thierry Henry is the player he would have most liked to have played alongside.

Asked which manager he would most like to play under, past or present, Saka toed the line by declaring current Gunners boss Mikel Arteta, whose side continued their pre-season preparations with an entertaining 5-3 win over Barcelona in Los Angeles last night.
Following the arrival of the likes of Havertz from Chelsea and Declan Rice from West Ham, Arteta confirmed he is looking to offload players before the end of the transfer window.
