Bryan Gil may not return to Tottenham this summer after new Valencia development
Tottenham misfit Bryan Gil has been offered the chance to stay in Spain with Valencia next season.
And the La Liga club believe next week could be crucial to whether he agrees or not.
The Spurs forward is on loan at Valencia for the rest of the campaign in a deal that does not include a purchase option.
But they have already enquired about adding an extra year to his loan – and believe he is tempted to take them up on it.
Gil did not have a goal or an assist in nine substitute appearances for Spurs this season in the Premier League.
But he has started six of 11 games in all competitions for Valencia and is back in form again.
That has brought him back to the attention of Spain boss Luis Enrique, who names his squad for this month's friendlies against Albania and Iceland next week.
And Valencia believe that if he is included, Gil will see the benefits of staying on with them and playing regular first-team football.
The 21-year-old is not currently in Antonio Conte's plans and Spurs will go back into the market for at least one forward in the summer.
So another loan could suit all parties as the north London club still view the player as one for the future and are happy to be patient with him
Gil has four full caps for Spain but has not played for them since their Nations League semi final against Italy last October.
Valencia boss Jose Bordalas said this week that Gil "would be welcome to continue" with the club next season, and it is understood an approach has already been made to Spurs.
Gil joined Tottenham from Sevilla last summer for a fee of around £25m, withErik Lamelamoving in the opposite direction.
