  • There were fears that the Man United star could be missing for a period of time
  • But, Fernandes travelled down to London ahead of their game with Tottenham

Bruno Fernandes has travelled to London with his Manchester United team-mates ahead of tonight’s clash with Tottenham – despite fears the midfielder would miss the game.

Fernandes limped off in extra time during United’s penalty shootout victory over Brighton in the FA Cup semi-final on Sunday with an ankle injury, raising concerns over his participation against Spurs.

Erik ten Hag had said in his pre-match press conference that there was a ‘question mark’ over his involvement in London, but in a huge boost for the Red Devils, Fernandes was pictured boarding their team coach on Thursday morning.

On Wednesday, when pressed on team news against Ryan Mason’s side, the Dutchman had said: ‘There are some unavailable — (Lisandro) Martinez, (Raphael) Varane. We have to see how Bruno Fernandes is, we don’t know yet.

‘He is a question mark. But I think for the rest, we are quite OK.

‘It’s more often that players, we protect them, prevention but it has to settle down.

‘We have seen he played a full game and it happened in the first half. But tomorrow is quick, we have to see what is possible.’

Fernandes had played through the pain barrier at Wembley before he was eventually replaced by Wout Weghorst after 101 minutes in United’s 7-6 penalty shootout victory.

The Portuguese star – who has often stepped up as United’s skipper this season  with club captain Harry Maguire having struggled for game time – has been an integral part of the club’s rebuild under Ten Hag.

In total, Fernandes has scored 10 goals and added 13 assists across 50 appearances in all competitions.

He has remarkably missed only three games. Two for suspension against Sevilla and Aston Villa, while he was also rested for United’s 3-0 victory over Charlton in the FA Cup quarter-final.
