Bruno Fernandes snubs NGolo Kante in naming toughest Premier League midfielder

Bruno Fernandes has named the toughest midfielder he has faced in the Premier League since joining Manchester United – snubbing Chelsea's Champions League and World Cup winning star N'Golo Kante.

The Portugal international left Sporting Lisbon for Old Trafford back in 2020 – and has been one of the most influential players in the division since by scoring 35 goals and registering 25 assists across just 78 appearances.

With United announcing that Fernandes has agreed a new deal with the club, that makes him one of their highest paid players, fans had their chance to ask him about his time at the club so far on social media.

Taking part in a Twitter question and answer session, Fernandes named Kevin De Bruyne when asked who the toughest midfielder he has faced in the Premier League.

Fernandes has taken on the Belgium international on six occasions across all competitions, winning once, drawing twice and losing three times.

Across those fixtures, Fernandes has scored once with De Bruyne scoring twice, both those goals coming in their most recent meeting at the Etihad.

Fernandes was also asked who is the DJ in the United dressing room, laughing off a suggestion that it was Fred and revealing that it is either himself or Jadon Sancho.

The 27-year-old had said of his new deal: "From the moment that I joined Manchester United, I have had a special relationship with the club and our amazing fans.

"I grew up watching this team, dreaming of getting the chance to play here one day. That dream is now a reality and an honour.

“Even after two years, it still feels amazing to step out at Old Trafford, to hear the fans sing my song and to score in front of the Stretford End. It is a true privilege to wear this shirt and to fight for our incredible club."
