Bruno Fernandes’ ‘motherf*****’ jibe to Man Utd scorer Scott McTominay picked up
Pitchside microphones overheard Bruno Fernandes jokingly calling Manchester United team-mate Scott McTominay a “motherf*****”.
McTominay scored an extra-time winner to beat West Ham in the FA Cup fifth round on Tuesday evening.
The Scotland star climbed off the bench to slam home the winner, adding to his reputation as more of a goalscorer.
Fernandes has impressed in front of goal since joining United last January and has helped the Red Devils impress.
And he joked that the pass to McTominay, from Marcus Rashford, was for him as microphones picked up the celebrations.
Fernandes could be heard in a clip saying "Hey, the ball was for me motherf***er."
United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is keen to unleash McTominay and give him more opportunities to score following his FA Cup winner.
Solskjaer said: “Scott’s a clinical striker of the ball. He used to play as a striker, we know that, and he finishes with authority.
“Like, 'bang', finish. No messing about. No safety. That’s something we've got to learn from.
“For a defensive midfielder, we’ll have to unleash him and release him forward because he’s a goal threat in the box and he's got a good strike on him.”
On progressing to the next round, the boss added: “It doesn’t really matter, it's by book or by crook maybe, and that’s the main thing in the cup.
“We’re in the hat and we bounce back after the disappointment against Everton. That last goal [by Dominic Calvert-Lewin at the weekend] could be a mental kick in the face and we’ve refocused and reset the heads and done really well.”
