Bruno Fernandes makes his thoughts about Paul Pogba’s Man Utd future clear
Bruno Fernandes has made it clear that he is hoping Paul Pogba stays at Manchester United for the foreseeable future.
The French midfielder has been perennially linked with a move away from the club in recent months, and it is far from certain that he will remain at Old Trafford after this summer.
Despite the speculation, Pogba was instrumental in his side's 2-1 victory over Aston Villa on Friday, winning a penalty which Fernandes converted for United's second goal.
And speaking to MUTV after the game, the Portuguese star expressed his admiration for his teammate.
"I think today Paul was top," he said. "The first goal he makes a good skill, he comes off from a player so easily.
"But we all know the qualities he has. I think it is not in doubt."
Pogba has not always been everyone's cup of tea, and some stated their belief that he is overrated earlier in the season.
But Fernandes thinks his performance against Villa goes to show just how important he can continue to be for the team.
And he suggested Pogba will continue to improve the more he plays in the coming weeks – and appears hopeful he won't be going anywhere anytime soon.
"I hope people are not in doubt on the qualities of Paul because we know he can play, he can help us and he can play really well," Fernandes continued.
"He was [involved] in both goals. In the penalty you see one of the best he can do, cover the ball and going away from his player, and I think he will give more and more and more with the confidence coming game after game."
United triggered a one-year contract extension that ties Pogba to the club until the summer of 2022 in October.
Real Madrid, Juventus and Paris St Germain are all thought to be interested in the 2018 World Cup winner.
