Brazilian wonderkid told to snub Man Utd and seal Man City transfer
Brazilian legend Rivaldo has urged Samba starlet Gabriel Veron to join Manchester City ahead of bitter rivals United.
Veron, named after former United midfielder Juan Sebastian Veron, is expected to be involved in a fierce £53million transfer fight between the two Manchester clubs in the summer.
The 18-year-old is already one of the hottest properties in South America after a breakthrough season with Palmeiras.
And while Spanish giants Barcelona and Real Madrid are also tracking him, Veron is expected to head to the Premier League with both La Liga clubs strapped for cash.
Now Rivaldo has entered the debate to advise Veron that his future should be at the Etihad and not Old Trafford.
Rivaldo told Betfair : “There are strong rumours that Manchester United and Manchester City are chasing Gabriel Veron's signing from Palmeiras – and I think that the Manchester club that wins this particular fight will be properly rewarded.
“Veron has lots of talent and a bright future ahead, so it's no coincidence to see two big English clubs chasing him, and he could perform for either club without problems.
“If he has the choice between the two clubs, I suggest City because they are the more stable club nowadays, with a solid tactical system implemented by Pep Guardiola, which is not the case with Manchester United, despite also being a fantastic club.”
Veron, who wanted to follow in the footsteps of his father by becoming a cowboy before joining Palmeiras, can join any club that meets his buy-out clause.
He has scored 10 goals and made five assists in 34 games for his club and helped Brazil lift the 2019 Under-17 World Cup in 2019 when his three goals in the tournament also earned him the Golden Ball.
