Beckham’s son Romeo bags injury-time winner as Brentford fans want name on shirt

Super-sub Romeo Beckham's last-gasp winner for Brentford B left the club's fans calling for his name to be put on the first-team shirt.

David Beckham's son came off the bench to clinch a 93rd-minute victory for Brentford's academy side's match against Wealdstone in the Middlesex Senior Cup quarter-final. Before his introduction, the young Bees were drawing 2-2 after squandering a two goal lead, courtesy of strikes from Tristan Crama and Frank Onyeka in the opening half hour.

But Brentford's comfortable lead was obliterated by Wealdstone duo Tarrelle Whittaker and Olufela Olomol who got their team back in the game. And both sides were resigned to sharing the spoils before Romeo waltzed in and nodded in the winner on the brink of the full-time whistle.

Romeo was over the moon after scoring and passionately celebrated by pumping his fists as his team-mates mobbed him. The club's supporters were equally impressed and urged the Bees to etch his name on a first team shirt.

One fan declared: "hello, Is that the club shop? I'd like the home shirt, please. XL… Yes, PL badge on the side… Shirt name? Yes, BECKHAM." Then a second supporter gushed: "Love it when a Beckham scores."

And a third added: "Welcome to Brentford." The Bees will be hoping Romeo can maintain his goal streak in their upcoming semi-final match in the competition.

The youngster joined Brentford in January from Inter Miami until the end of the season. And after he penned the loan deal with the Bees, dad David announced that he was proud of his son, although he wasn't present to watch Romeo's goal on Tuesday night. The midfielder made his debut a week after moving to London, in Brentford B's London Senior Cup win over Erith and Belvedere.

On his debut, Romeo was bizarrely trolled by the opposition's manager who bowed in his direction as he warmed up on the sidelines, the Athletic revealed. He was then accidentally struck in the face by the referee whilst defending a throw-in to wrap up a memorable debut.
