David Beckham, Rio Ferdinand and Alex Scott are among the stars lined up for a Stamford Bridge charity football match to aid war-torn Ukraine in August.

It will be staged at Chelsea’s home ground just over a year after Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich was forced to sell the club following Vladimir Putin’s invasion.

The Sun report former England captain Beckham, ex-Three Lions defender turned pundit Ferdinand and TV host Scott will feature in the game.

Former Chelsea striker Andriy Shevchenko and Arsenal’s Oleksandr Zinchenko – both Ukrainians – are tipped to captain the two teams.

Game4Ukraine will raise money for the United24 charity established by the Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky.

Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich was forced to sell Chelsea after the Ukraine invasion

A source told The Sun that Game4Ukraine ‘will be the biggest charity event of the year’ with a ‘huge half-time show’ as well as the match.

It is being organised by Lester Holcombe, whose 2017 Game4Grenfell raised £900,000 for victims of the tower block fire in London.

Abramovich announced his plans to sell Chelsea, the club he bought in 2003, back in March last year – days after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine began.

The oligarch put in over £1.5billion to bring considerable success to the Stamford Bridge club during his ownership but was sanctioned over his links to Russian president Putin.

A consortium led by American investor Todd Boehly bought Chelsea for £4.25bn in May last year.
