Bayern 'turn their attention to Man United target Randal Kolo Muani'

Bayern Munich ‘turn their attention to Man United target Randal Kolo Muani’, with the German giants set to ‘prioritise signing a striker’ after conceding defeat in the race for Declan Rice

  • Randal Kolo Muani accounted for 29 of Eintracht Frankfurt’s 58 Bundesliga goals
  • The 24-year-old is contracted until 2027 reportedly earning below £1.3m-a-year
  • Bayern Munich ‘are still hopeful that Harry Kane could be persuaded to join’

Bayern Munich are set to prioritise a new striker this summer, having missed out on their previous target Declan Rice, according to reports.

Rice was thought to have been something of a priority for Thomas Tuchel’s side this summer, before they appeared to rule themselves out of the running on Tuesday.

The Bundesliga champions had seemed among the front-runners to sign the West Ham skipper, but were convinced that the player was set to sign for Arsenal instead. conceding defeat as a result.

However, their sights seem to have turned to Randal Kolo Muani, who has long been linked with a move to Manchester United, who are equally in need of a new No 9.

The £105million-rated Eintracht Frankfurt star was thought to have handed United a boost in admitting his dream was to play in the Premier League, but Florian Plettenburg reports that he is now on the radar of the Bavarian giants.

Thomas Tuchel’s side are thought to be prioritising a new No 9 this summer after missing out on Declan Rice

Randal Kolo Muani was one of the Bundeliga’s top performers with 29 contributions last season

Plettenburg claimed that a new No 9 was the German champions’ main priority after missing out on Rice.

He further suggested that Kolo Muani is among a number of names on Bayern Munich’s list of targets for the summer.

The player is still tied down to a long-term contract signed last summer, keeping him at the club until at least 2027.

However, a potential lure for Bayern is the fact that they can offer him a substantial pay rise, with Frankfurt not currently believed to be willing to propose an increase to his wages, thought to be below £1.3million-per-year.

Kolo Muani erupted onto the scene at the World Cup, impressing for France as he helped them to the final where they were ultimately beaten by Lionel Messi’s Argentina on penalties.

The 24-year-old thrived in the Bundesliga last season, having arrived in 2022 from Nantes on a free transfer.

He netted 15 times in 32 appearances in the German top-flight, as well as providing 14 assists as one of the league’s top producers, with Frankfurt finishing seventh overall.

In total, an impressive 50 per cent of all Die Adler’s goals in the division came as a direct result of Kolo Muani’s contributions, under-pinning his importance to the side.

The German champions can offer the French striker a considerable increase on his current wages

Kolo Muani is of interest to Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester United according to reports

The Frenchman has been heavily linked with a move to Paris Saint-Germain, as well as United, however, the 24-year-old indicated that he would prefer to play in England.

Speaking on Canal Football Club, Kolo Muani said: ‘It’s not just because you come from the Parisian region and grow up there that you should automatically play for PSG.

‘Honestly, who doesn’t dream of playing in the Premier League? It’s one of the best leagues that exists. You dream about it. These are childhood dreams.

‘But I’m not searching for the perfect club or the best club in the world. I’m really looking for the club that will give me the chance to be able to express myself, to earn gametime and most importantly allow me to grow.’
