Bayern Munich condemned racial abuse targeting defender Dayot Upamecano on social media on Wednesday following the team’s Champions League loss to Manchester City.

Bayern lost 3-0 to Pep Guardiola’s City side on Tuesday evening as their hopes of winning their first Champions League title since 2020 were dealt a huge blow.

Rodri opened the scoring for the hosts in the first half, but a string of errors from Bayern followed as City ran riot in Manchester.

Abusive messages were left as comments underneath a recent post on Upamecano’s Instagram account after he made a crucial mistake leading to a goal.

The defender struggled throughout the evening during the game, and was targeted online after the match.
